“FORGOTTEN MAN “ is a Kid Entertainment Center at the intersection of Feng Run street and Nan Qi Dao Street at Dao Wai District. The recreation of Chinese Baroque Architecture symbolized different parts of Harbin’s history. By using artifacts from the streets of Harbin, the combination brings out the new lives from the past. Those artifacts include street installation, sculptures on the building, popular toys and crafts from the Chinese cultures.

The concept of this tower came from two different aspects: History and Education. While researching the culture and history of Harbin, everything seems to relate to other countries. The western food cultures from Russia, and the abandoned sites after Japanese occupied. All of the stories had left a piece of memories in this city, which forms the Harbin nowadays. However, those traditions are sometimes burdened for people to move on with the new thing. Just like all of us with our childhood toy and memories. Those are the things that accompanied and formed who we are, but if we are not willing to transform them into new shapes. They will be forgotten in the corner of the room.

In order to save the old community from getting forgotten like the soldier who is stuck in the castle, designing a Kid Entertainment Center brings in more new energy and lives to the sleeping castle. Moreover, education as an important part of Harbin, creating space for kids to develop abilities in different fields, which allows them to grow up morally, intellectually and physically.
